Amos Lee

An evening with Amos Lee

Amos Lee has announced Dreamland, a new studio album coming February 11 via Dualtone Records which finds the Billboard chart-topping artist returning with “pensive beauty” (NPR) and “his greatest asset: the weathered voice which he uses to plumb emotional depths” (Pitchfork).

Tickets go on sale on October 1

Jimkata

Four years after going on hiatus, Jimkata is back with a renewed sense of purpose and an extraordinary new album. Recorded in Syracuse with producer Jason Randall, Bonfires finds the trio digging deep and stretching their boundaries with bold, intoxicating arrangements fueled by swirling synthesizers and anthemic hooks. The songs here are at once modern and classic, blurring the lines between the organic and the electronic as they reckon with doubt, struggle, and perseverance in a search for truth and meaning. Like much of Jimkata’s catalog, Bonfires delivers transcendence in tight, dancefloor-ready packages, but there’s a sense of freedom at play that pushes the trio’s performances to new emotional heights, a kind of liberation that can only come from learning to let go of expectation and embrace the moment.

“I think the time away brought us all more maturity, more patience, an ability to see the bigger picture,” says singer/guitarist Evan Friedell. “We all gained a lot of perspective on life and the value of being in a band together.”Indeed, the heart and soul of Jimkata has always been the enduring bonds between Friedell and his longtime bandmates, guitarist/keyboardist Aaron Gorsch and drummer Packy Lunn. Pals since middle school, the three launched Jimkata in 2005 while attending Ithaca College, where they quickly found an audience for their relentlessly feel-good performances, which grew from local house parties to club, theater, and festival dates on the strength of a series of critically acclaimed albums. Popdose hailed the band’s “bubbly sweetness,” while American Songwriter praised their “organic chemistry,” and Relix raved that the trio’s sound “proves that rock-based music still has a place in the world of four-on-the-floor beats.”

Brandon “Taz” Niederauer

Eighteen-year-old Brandon Niederauer, nicknamed “Taz” for his ferocious guitar playing, is living proof that dreams really do come true. Having performed in some of the most legendary venues in America with many of the most prominent musicians of our time, the young guitarist, singer, and songwriter has already earned himself quite the reputation. It all started at eight years old, when Brandon watched the movie School of Rock. Already inspired by his father’s record collection, Brandon instantly realized he was destined to play guitar. From that moment on, his guitar rarely left his hands. Just four years later, Brandon was cast in the principal role of guitarist “Zack Mooneyham” in the Tony Award-nominated Andrew Lloyd Webber Broadway production, School of Rock the Musical.

Based in New York City, Brandon has had the opportunity to play with many of his musical idols. In recent years, he’s shared the stage with multiple members of the Allman Brothers Band, including Gregg Allman, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes, Butch Trucks, and Oteil Burbridge, as well as a variety of other notable musicians, including Buddy Guy, Stevie Nicks, Lady Gaga, Slash, Jon Batiste, Dweezil Zappa, Eric Gales, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Dr. John, Gary Clark Jr., Col. Bruce Hampton, Eric Krasno, George Porter Jr., Robert Randolph, Karl Denson, Doug Wimbish, and John Popper. He has also performed with Tedeschi Trucks Band, The String Cheese Incident, Umphrey’s McGee, The Revivalists, Dumpstaphunk, Blackberry Smoke, Galactic, and countless other bands.Since making his national television debut on The Ellen DeGeneres Show at just ten years old, Brandon has appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Good Morning America, and The View. In 2018, Brandon reunited with Andrew Lloyd Webber, performing in January with Sarah Brightman at The Phantom of the Opera’s 30th Anniversary celebration, and in April alongside Sara Bareilles, Alice Cooper, and John Legend in NBC’s live broadcast production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Brandon is currently featured in Spike Lee’s Netflix series, She’s Gotta Have It, and performs concerts for audiences across the country and around the world.

Perfectly placing Phish’s “Sand” into the groove of The Talking Head’s “Slippery People”. Segued collections from all three acts such as Run Like Hell > Making Flippy Floppy > Piper > Run Like Hell or Mike’s Song > Have A Cigar > Once In A Lifetime > Weekapaug Groove. These ideas are the spirit behind Pink Talking Fish.
The story is ever evolving. The experience is always exciting. Come join Pink Talking Fish for the ultimate fusion tribute and celebrate the love of this music in unique fashion.

Midnight North

It’s full steam ahead for Midnight North after an exciting year featuring major festival plays, nationwide tours, and the release of a second live record. Rolling Stone hailed Midnight North as the “Best New Act” in its review of 2018’s Peach Music Festival saying the band “takes the best parts of roots music and weaves them into a tapestry of rock and Americana”.
In the summer of 2018, Midnight North released their second live record, Selections from the Great American Music Hall. This 8 track album features original live staples like “Everyday” and “Playing a Poor Hand Well”, covers like John Prine’s “Angel from Montgomery” and the Dead’s “The Music Never Stopped”. The concert album also features guest appearances by Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, members of Twiddle, and the band’s hometown horn section, The Northbound Horns.

Immediately after their sophomore studio release, 2015’s Scarlet Skies, Midnight North – fronted by lead songwriters Elliott Peck & Grahame Lesh and strong rhythm section work from bass player Connor O’Sullivan and drummer Nathan Graham – began touring the country in earnest, visiting the East Coast and the Midwest for the first time in summer 2015. The band wrote the majority of 2017’s Under the Lights in the following months, and the lyrical road themes – the initial excitement, the longing for home, and the inherent need to keep moving – shine through. Midnight North Live“Under the Lights is the perfect title for this collection of songs,” said O’Sullivan. “These songs and lyrics are about being a band of musicians on the road away from home. Songs literally performed and tested under the lights at countless venues across the US.”
2019 and beyond will continue the growth for Midnight North, as the expanding discography and consistent national touring help pave the way for more and more fans to discover the band. “These songs tell our story, at least up to this point,” said Lesh. “Our job is to sing you these stories as honestly as we can and transport you into our world for an hour or two.”

Melvin Seals & JGB

Date: October 6th, 2021
Location: The Cohoes Music Hall
Address: 58 Remsen St, Cohoes, NY 12047

Doors: 7pm
Show:
8pm
Age: All ages

Melvin Seals has been a powerful presence in the music industry for over 30 years with a long-established reputation as a performer, recording artist and producer. Melvin is most revered for his powerful, high-spirited, Hammond B-3 organ, and keyboards in the Jerry Garcia Band. Melvin spun his B-3 magic with the Jerry Garcia Band for 18 years and in doing so helped pioneer and define what has now become “Jam Band Music”. From blues to funk to rock to jazz, Melvin Seals serves up a tasty mix with a little R&B and gospel thrown in to spice things up.

Melvin and JGB bring an intuitive, expressive style, soul, spontaneity and remarkable chops to the table. John Kadlecik on lead guitar and vocal duties, John-Paul McLean’s savory bass, Jeremy Hoenig on the drums and, of course, a heapin’ helpin’ of the wizard’s magic on Hammond B-3 Organ and keyboards. Their chemistry is the focus from which they create a spontaneous and high art where the sky is the limit musically. They offer an exciting, often psychedelic musical journey that changes nightly and keeps the audience dancing and smiling (and some staring in amazement) for hours.

Adding his rock-gospel-soul-rhythm and blues touch with his funky style of playing, no wonder Jerry nicknamed him “Master of the Universe”. Melvin continues to treat music lovers to his unique brand of melodic flavor with JGB. Come see and hear for yourself!

The Flaming Lips w/s/g Particle Kid

American Head American Tour
w/s/g Particle Kid

Melodically, their sound contains lush, multi-layered, psychedelic rock arrangements, but lyrically their compositions show elements of space rock, including unusual song and album titles—such as “Psychiatric Explorations of the Fetus with Needles”, “Free Radicals (A Hallucination of the Christmas Skeleton Pleading with a Suicide Bomber)” and “Yeah, I Know It’s a Drag… But Wastin’ Pigs Is Still Radical”. They are also acclaimed for their elaborate live shows, which feature costumes, balloons, puppets, video projections, complex stage light configurations, giant hands, large amounts of confetti, and frontman Wayne Coyne’s signature man-sized plastic bubble, in which he traverses the audience. In 2002, Q magazine named The Flaming Lips one of the “50 Bands to See Before You Die”.

The Garcia Project

The Garcia Project’s performances are based on actual set lists performed by The Jerry Garcia Band. All of their shows are classic recreations of a Jerry Garcia Band set list from the 1976 to 1995. For anyone that never had a chance to experience the Jerry Garcia Band or for fans that want to relive a classic show, The Garcia Project delivers.

With precise arrangements and the proper instrumentation and feel for any and all given eras, The Garcia Project faithfully channels and projects the feelings, emotions and music that propelled the Jerry Garcia Band and the fans through many years of musical bliss. It’s about family, soul searching, rejoicing, contemplating, celebrating, seeking truth and loving one another.

“I spent a lot of nights in a lot of places with the Jerry Garcia Band, and I’m here to say that I really enjoy what The Garcia Project does with those memories. Mik’s guitar and his and Kat’s vocals stir up some very sweet vibes…sometimes they almost make me feel like I’m back in, say, 1992 at the Warfield. Check ‘em out.”

— Dennis McNally, former publicist for the Jerry Garcia Band

“For those of us who crave late 70’s (and through the 80’s and 90’s) Jerry Garcia Band, The Garcia Project scratches that itch for hearing live renditions of Jerry Garcia Band shows from that period.”

— Bob Minkin, legendary Grateful Dead and Jerry Band rock photographer

“I first met Jerry Garcia in 1974 when he asked me to sing harmony with him on his second solo album and started recording and sitting in with The Jerry Garcia Band whenever possible. I became an official member of The Garcia Band in 1977 through 1979 recording, gigging and touring with them, and have many fond memories of that unique experience! Recently, I was asked to sit in with a wonderful band called The Garcia Project, who lovingly and reverently recreate different specific sets of the Garcia Band in their hayday. They don’t merely recreate Jerry’s music, as far as I’m concerned, they are channeling it. Performing with them, I am moved and touched by how much the music moves the audience into a state of joyous community and rapture. The Garcia Project brings us all back to that special time and I’m excited and blessed to participate in giving new and old audiences alike, the chance to relive the Spirit & Magic of the Jerry Garcia Band.”

— Maria Muldaur

“If you close your eyes, you’ll swear you are at a Jerry Garcia Band show.”

– ecoLocal Magazine, Albany, NY

“…it was hard to tell that it wasn’t Jerry signing on “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down….The Garcia Project’s attention to detail on intonation and performance structure does set them apart as an authority on Jerry Garcia.”

– NYS Music

“In order for a tribute band to be successful, fans need to look at them as the authority on the artist they are emulating. The Garcia Project pulls it off effortlessly. Go see them live …The Garcia Project is the whole package.”

– Jim Gilbert, Upstate Live

“The Garcia Project was on point with the whole experience and it didn’t seem like a cover band more like a mirrored band…they are just as real as the Jerry Garcia Band. “

– Buffalo FM Review

“”Deadicated“ to carrying on the music and vibe of Jerry that so many still carry in their hearts.”

– Albany Times Union

Lily and Stella and the Reptillians

Stella and the Reptilians lead singer Lily Morgan is a singer/songwriter from Chester, New York. Lily started Stella and the Reptilians after having a brief solo career. The band’s atmospheric alt indie vibe has captivated everyone who listens. Lily’s unofficial releases include a mix of spacious synth sounds highlighting her upper register and the high sweet tones in her voice. She uses a variety of lyrics in her songwriting that incorporate lots of imagery that make you experience her songs with her. Lily’s vision for her band expands everyday with the opportunities that are presented to them. Since the band formed during the Covid-19 pandemic they have had to be creative when it comes to performing and really gaining traction but it has not stopped them. Stella and the Reptilians will continue to put their good energy, vibes and music out into the world especially during the hardest times when they feel their audience needs it most.

Lily’s musical journey has been nothing short of a catchy, lyrical take on the indie-folk sound. Hailing from Poland, Maine, lead, Nick Santos’, music encapsulates that feeling of being cold with an overlying contention of being at peace with it. The folky, guitar-driven sound is met with the lively feel of indie-pop, whilst retaining a genuine “DIY or die” aesthetic by recording and producing the music himself. It’s an honest reflection of personal feelings and gut instincts, but it’s caked in an amusing light that makes it easy for the listener to digest. Lily’s debut ten-track album, “Honesty Hour,” is set to be released on all platforms April 30th!
