The Grammy Award-winning Rebirth Brass Band brings the music of New Orleans to Saratoga!

Whether seen on HBO’s Treme or at their legendary Tuesday night gig at The Maple Leaf, the Rebirth Brass Band is a true New Orleans institution.  Formed by the Frazier brothers in 1983, the band has long since graduated from the streets of the French Quarter to theaters and festivals all over the world.  In addition to their commitment to uphold the tradition of brass bands, Rebirth’s music also extends into the the more modern realms of funk and hiphop to create their own signature, soul moving sound.   This has placed them among the world’s top brass bands and they are the hands-down favorite among the younger generation. In reference to the sometimes-stringent competition amongst brass bands, Offbeat magazine remarked, “…it’s clear that Rebirth, which boasts 10 albums and has traveled the world, is the band to beat (July 2001).

Rebirth Brass Band have continued their innovative, contemporary approach to New Orleans music following up 2012’s Grammy
Award-winning album Rebirth of New Orleans with 2014’s Move Your Body which was released on Basin Street Records.  Since its release, the record hit #1 and has been at the top of both the CMJ & Jazz Week Radio charts.

Over their 35-year career, Rebirth has not only won over several generations of music lovers, their music has become the soundtrack to an entire city.

* Rebirth Brass Band’s album “Rebirth of New Orleans” earned them the title of the first brass band ever to win a Grammy

* ”Rebirth of New Orleans” reached #9 on the Billboard Jazz Chart and #1 on the CMJ Jazz Charts.

* Rebirth has several cameos on the hit HBO series Treme as well as many soundtrack contributions.

Rebirth Brass Band has shared the stage with Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Grateful Dead, The Meters, The PFunk AllStars, Maceo
Parker, Dr. John, The Ohio Players, Ani DiFranco and more.

The Lone Bellow

Please visit our Health & Safety Guide for more information regarding Masks & Vaccination requirements.

The Lone Bellow is touring in support of their latest, highly anticipated new album, Half Moon Light. This album is an artistic triumph worked toward for years, earned not by individual posturing, but by collective determination and natural growth. With earthy three-part harmonies and songwriting as provocative as it is honest, the trio made up of Brian, lead vocalist Zach Williams, and multi-instrumentalist Kanene Donehey Pipkin creates sparks that make a stranger’s life matter or bring our sense of childlike wonder roaring back. On Half Moon Light, The Lone Bellow mix light and dark to muster a complex ode to memory, a call for hope, and an exercise in empathy. Anchored in the acoustic storytelling that first so endeared the band to fans and critics, Half Moon Light also takes more chances, experimenting with textures and instrumental fillips to create a full-bodied music experience. The result is The Lone Bellow’s most sophisticated work to date.

“I want it to bring comfort,” The Lone Bellow guitarist Brian Elmquist says, reflecting on the album. “But it’s not all hard conversations. There’s a lot of light and some dancing that needs to happen.”

This roots-rock band wants their music to offers a salve and a shelter to the listener. “In my own perfect little world, I would be able to put the music out and not talk about it––just, Here. Bye. See you next time,” says lead vocalist Zach Williams. “I do hope someone will find this music in a peaceful moment when they can turn it on and get lost in the story and the sound.”

Pioneers. Innovators. These are but a few of the monikers that Yonder Mountain String Band has worn since their inception. From the first Yonder shows in the fall of 1998 to their drive-in tour of 2020, this touring force has brought their adventurous musical spirit to countless venues for nearly a quarter century.

Yonder Mountain’s early success was fueled by their desire to make a sound distinctly their own, whether performed on crowded stages or selling out the hallowed Red Rocks Amphitheater. Their traditional take on bluegrass sound was fused with their diverse musical influences ranging anywhere from punk rock to the Grateful Dead.

The combination of the band’s unique personalities, extended musical improvisations, their jam band fan culture and their collaborative effort on writing and arranging original songs which span multiple genres—attracted more of a freewheeling jam crowd than the traditional bluegrass scene which, in turn, exposed a whole new generation of fans to Bluegrass.

No band that has stood the test of time is without transformation and Yonder Mountain has had their fair share of change. In 2014, Yonder Mountain and Jeff Austin announced they were parting ways. Austin went on to tour full time with his side project, The Jeff Austin Band, with a rotating lineup of musicians playing with him until his unexpected death in 2019.

Yonder’s ninth studio album will be released in late 2021. It features founding members Adam Aijala on guitar, Ben Kaufmann on bass, Dave Johnston on banjo, alongside the 2015 addition of Allie Kral on fiddle, and newcomer, multi-instrumentalist Nick Piccininni handling duties on mandolin, second fiddle, and anything stringed.

Yonder Mountain String Band is a quintessential ensemble honing its craft night after night on the road; the result is music that doesn’t stand still, it’s always progressing and breaking unprecedented ground.

Over two decades have passed since Animal Collective began to reimagine, then define, the sound and image of indie rock. Creating a twisted musical world all their own where cascading drums, blissful electronic hooks, and dazzling harmonies abounded, their paradigm-breaking sound soon became paradigm building. Yet, the quartet never sat still, even on the cornerstones they helped create, and it’s this singular sense of exploratory wonder that has come to define their greatness. Touring in support of Time Skiffs, the mythic crew’s first studio album in more than half a decade, Animal Collective stops in North Adams this March for an epic evening. Twenty years on and still in search of what’s next.

“One of the most consistently brilliant bands in indie music.” — PASTE

Warming things up, Brooklyn-based songwriter and producer L’Rain returns to Mass MoCA after a July 2021 performance. Bringing a similar ethos of genuine experimentation to her richly layered compositions, L’Rain weaves guitar, synthesizers, and delay effects into a swirl of free jazz and heartfelt, personal songs.

Jazz & Sesame Street

FUZZY AND BLUE – 2021 – JOE FIEDLER – OPEN SESAME

Open Sesame merges the two worlds of Joseph Fiedler, those being music director for Sesame Street—for the past twelve seasons and an internationally recognized jazz trombonist, by presenting his unique and slightly edgy arrangements of Sesame Street classics. In support of their new release, Fuzzy and Blue, the band showcases a working quartet of seasoned New York improvisers, (Jeff Lederer/Saxophones, Steven Bernstein/Trumpets, Michael Sarin/Drums and Sean Conly/Bass).

Also, Fielder will present an inside multi-media look with Q&A of just how the musical direction for the beloved children’s educational program comes together. Open Sesame’s debut recording was released in February 2019 to great acclaim. Popmatters said, “(Fiedler is) a great jazz musician who blends the sober and the spectacular working with music from one of the most important cultural launching pads this country has created. Jazz and Sesame Street? Yes. Open wide” and the New York City Jazz Record recently named Open Sesame to their “Best of 2019” list.

-Chicago Sun-Times

“…a real jolt of adrenaline, fueled by the contrast between searing, resonant, rock-flavored leads and fills and classic honkytonk and bluegrass lines on an arsenal of instruments including banjo, fiddle and steel guitar.”

In December 1965 thhttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/rochmon-records-listening-club-the-beach-boys-pet-sounds-tickets-163413108005e Beach Boys label mates, The Beatles, released “Rubber Soul”. Brian Wilson, the Beach Boy’s chief song writer and resident savant, left the road and sequestered himself in his home. It was then, with advertising copywriter turned lyricist Tony Asher, that Brian wrote the bulk of the album we know as The Beach Boy’s “Pet Sounds”. “Pet Sounds” is a work of absolute genius that features Beach Boys classics “Wouldn’t It Be Nice”, “Sloop John B”, “God Only Knows”, and “Caroline No” and 9 others. The Listening Party begins at 7pm with a live audio & video presentation by Chuck Vosganian aka “Rochmon”. We’ll listen to “Pet Sounds.” on The Linda’s state of the art sound system. A Rochmon Record Club Listening Party is meant to inform and deepen our understanding of the history of the individual performers, the songs and the stories that went into the making this iconic album. By listening together, we hear the album again for the first time.
Rochmon Records Listening Party is the third Thursday of every month at The Linda.

Emily Wolfe

The Linda requires all patrons, staff, and artists to show proof of vaccination against Covid-19 with ID. In addition all guests patrons and artists must wear facemasks regardless of vaccination status. Facemasks may be removed while eating , drinking or performing.

Austin, TX’s resident rocker, Emily Wolfe transcends the ranks of ordinary musicians. Her creative songwriting keeps her fans aglow thanks to her strong, powerful lead vocals and dominating guitar style. Wolfe has shared stages with the likes of Heart, The Pretenders and Gary Clark Jr.

The second full-length from Emily Wolfe, Outlier, released June 25th, 2021 on Crows Feet Records, is an album built on exquisite tension: an endless push-and-pull between desire and resistance, determination and self-sabotage, the instinctive need to belong and the urge to strike out on your own. For help in channeling that complexity of feeling, the Austin-based singer/songwriter/guitarist explored and obliterated the boundaries of rock-and-roll and modern pop, mining equal inspiration from the likes of Judas Priest and Ariana Grande in her bold but masterful genre-bending. Produced by Michael Shuman of Queens of the Stone Age and Mini Mansions, the resulting body of work finds Wolfe upending the conventions of each genre, ultimately arriving at a guitar-drenched sound that’s wildly unpredictable and immediately magnetic.

Emily Wolfe, a self-taught guitar player starting at the age of 5, has honed her craft over the past 22 years and continues to take her playing to the next level. After self-releasing her EP “Roulette” in 2014 followed by single “Atta Blues” in 2016, Emily used 2017 and 2018 to strategize and write new music. She released a debut self-titled, full-length album in February 2019, produced by Ben Tanner of the Alabama Shakes.

Wolfe has been described as a sonic merging of PJ Harvey and Jack White and is guaranteed to not disappoint early fans who are already along for the ride to greatness. Featured by the Wall Street Journal, MTV, NPR, and American Songwriter, Emily Wolfe is definitely one to watch.

Bad Bad Hats

The Linda requires all patrons, staff, and artists to show proof of vaccination against Covid-19 with ID. In addition all guests patrons and artists must wear facemasks regardless of vaccination status. Facemasks may be removed while eating , drinking or performing.

Bad Bad Hats is an indie rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota. The band consists of Kerry
Alexander, Chris Hoge, and Connor Davison. Named for a trouble-making character from the
Madeline children’s books, Bad Bad Hats is defined by a balance of sweet and sour. Their
music honors classic pop songwriting, with nods to nineties rock simplicity and pop-punk
frivolity. Through it all, Alexander’s unflinchingly sincere lyrics cut to the emotional heart of
things.
Alexander and Hoge met while attending Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota. In 2012,
they formed Bad Bad Hats with friend and bassist Noah Boswell, and began performing around
the Twin Cities. That same year, they were signed by Minneapolis label Afternoon Records.
Their 2015 debut album Psychic Reader caught the attention of outlets including The New
Yorker, NPR, Pitchfork, and Paste. Since the release of Psychic Reader, Bad Bad Hats has
toured the U.S. extensively, supporting artists including Margaret Glaspy, Hippo Campus, and
Third Eye Blind.
Lightning Round, the band’s second full-length album, finds Bad Bad Hats more confident and
mature than ever. Producer and collaborator Brett Bullion (who also produced Psychic Reader)
encouraged the group to record live in the studio, an approach which pushed the band outside
of their comfort zone and lends many songs on the record a loose, organic feel. There is a
vulnerability in this (fluttering tape loops, a few wrong notes) and it makes the music on the new
album feel as honest and unpredictable as Alexander’s lyrics. In this spontaneous environment,
Hoge, who is known to play every instrument in the band, delivers some of his most inspired
musical performances yet.
As for Alexander, she’s still writing love songs, ones that recount with cinematic swell the subtle
joy and pain of the everyday. Her vocals are supported by open, breathing arrangements that
feature lush keyboard sounds and woody guitar tones. Davison was recruited to play drums on
the album and became a full-time member in the process. His drumming and melodic
contributions give the new songs a level of nuance not heard in previous releases.
Lightning Round marks the final release with contributions from original member Noah Boswell,
who will be leaving the group this fall to pursue a master’s degree. Bad Bad Hats continues with
Alexander, Hoge, and Davison. They have plans to tour the country this year
