If you haven’t heard of Jeff Black you have certainly heard his songs! Jeff’s songs appear on recordings by Alison Krauss, Waylon Jennings, Jerry Douglas, John Oates, Dierks Bentley, Blackhawk, Jo-el Sonnier and more. Sam Bush has championed him with recording many of his songs including “Same Ol’ River” and “Gold Heart Locket”. Jeff co-wrote the title track to Sam’s Grammy nominated album “Circles Around Me”. His music can be heard on the soundtracks of “The Thing Called Love”, The acclaimed PBS documentary “The Appalachians” and Sundance Film Festival’s Grand Jury Prize Winner for Best Drama “Steel City”. BlackHawk’s cover of Black’s song, “That’s Just About Right,” was a Top 10 Country single. BlackHawk’s cover of Black’s song, “King Of The World” was a Top 30 Country single. A master songwriter and performer, Black was voted one of the top 100 Folk artists of the last 25 years by Boston’s WUMB listeners.

Jeff started off 2024 in Muscle Shoals at FAME studios to begin work on the recording of all new compositions with a handpicked family of musicians and engineers. This new album has been 25 years in the making since recording “Birmingham Road” with Wilco at Willie Nelson’s Pedernales Studios outside of Austin. Reuniting with “Birmingham Road” producer, six-time Grammy nominee and three-time Juno nominee Susan Rogers, best known for her work with Prince, David Byrne, Barenaked Ladies to name a few. Jeff Black spent session days recording new songs. Production continues in Nashville Spring 2025.

“Anthology” A retrospect of songs selected by listeners from albums released since 1998 will be available everywhere March 2025.

In the tradition of the great storytellers, his passionate, soul driven live performances of songs from his vast catalog are not to be missed. When Jeff is not on the road, he lives in Nashville.

“Jeff Black has the troubadour quality of a Steve Goodman, the poetic dignity of Bruce Springsteen, and the outer-fringe edge of Townes Van Zandt. We kid you not.”
-Steve Morse The Boston Globe

.

“Nothing short of brilliant. Top to bottom, this stuff is special.

Black is an artist of substance.”
